How Do Disposable Adult Briefs or Undergarments Work?
Posted by Stacy Cohen on 18th Jun 2015
Adult incontinence products have been developed over many years to provide clean and odor neutralizing skin and cleanliness protection. How do these products perform these functions?
These products are designed with several layers. The layer closest to the skin performs the function of wicking moisture away from the skin. There are several layers to contain liquid away from the skin and control odors. The undergarment may contain a crystal or chemical like sodium polyacrylate to absorb and contain the moisture, away from the skin. This type of crystal can absorb about 400 times its weight in fluid. The briefs may have a plastic outer shell to further protect against leakage. Briefs constructed with a cloth-like outer shell also protect against leakage and do not make the noise associated with plastic outer shell undergarments.
